Corner of terrace in Ranelagh
An additional bedroom, a bathroom and a small office were required in this gardenless one bedroom house. The planners forbade raising the ridge, so the ceilings were lowered, and the enlarged roof-space accommodated study and bathroom. A shower is fitted into a ‘chimney’ feature which visually reinforces the corner of the terrace. The cross-section shows how the stair design allowed this ‘shoe-horning’ to be done.
